FRET COLORS ARE NOT IN THE CORRECT PLACE!!!įrom here, I de-soldered all of the wire leads from the board, (there's normally some hot glue you have to rip off first) and removed this circuitboard and membrane altogether. The Circuitboard is flipped over in this situation, the green side shown will normally face towards the frets, with that rubber bit in between. The Mod Itself (proceed at your own risk):Īlrighty, so when I opened up the neck, the inner machinations A looked something like this: If you're looking into painting the body of one of these dudes be ready to tape for a lil' while. It's not exactly the same as the neak color/sheen and whatnot, but it's really damn close. Secondly, if anyone was wondering, I spray painted the body using Krylon Colormaster Satin Black paint. Something with a little less travel would be nice. I picked these because the space in the neak is pretty cramped, and the switch buttons are wide and flat, to help stabilize the fret buttons. I talk more about the feel of the frets later on. I started off using Kailh Choc Whites, but moved to Kailh Choc Light Blue's because they are heavier.

Heres a real quick video I threw together demonstrating the switches and whatnot:įirst off, I used Kailh Choc, Low Profile Keyswitches. Don't take this as a guide, as there is a lot of improvement that can be made, but i'll include everything I used to make this if you have the desire to mangle a plastic guitar a bit.
GUITAR HERO XPLORER HOW TO
I did a good bit of research, but I didn't come across anything really showing how to do this, so I figured i'll detail my experience here. (I normally play on another Xplorer, but the keyboard was a nice change of pace). I have heard the idea of putting mechanical switches in the neak of a Guitar Hero guitar bounced around for a while, and decided to finally go about attempting to, after enjoying playing on a mech keyboard.
